Anyone fish Half Moon Lake in Eau Claire County? For a little polluted urban lake, its actually preety decent. Seen a 10lb. Northern iced out of there, and a 21” Walleye. Good for bassin too. While using the rubber worm on the west bend of the lake, we get bit off by what we suppose is Pike.

    Just wondering what yall get.

Fished it while in undergrad at Eau Claire for bass, talk about fun….biggest bass was about 6lbs…. as long as the ski-sprites weren’t messen things up you could have the lake to yourself on most days. In the spring and winter we would catch a bunch of bluegills…mostly on the small side and have a fish fry.

It should be noted the ski sprites have been asked to move and the city is looking for ways to keep pollution from flowing into the lake. With the trolling motor only reg this lake should be real good all summer if they could get the weed infestation under control…..

Yes, word is the Ski sprites are moving to Dells Pond, near the Mt. Simon boat landing area.

Half Moon will contiue to rot and wither away. Each year vegetation and lily pads sink to the bottom and rot. Over many, many years the lake will start becoming shalower. Its not helping that there is houses all around the lake eiether. All the fertilzer from the lawns goes straight into the lake, and speeds up the vegetation growth. Its just one of natures cycles I guess.

Meanwhile, Halfmoon is still a great lake for swimming, bassin or just canoeing around.
