Absolutely try LM. Depending on boat size, pick your days… But July and August are historically lights out for salmon and trout. Periods of west winds are what you want – this pulls the cold water in closer to shore, which pulls in the salmon. We have had some amazing fishing out of Sheboygan in years past. Or take the drive down to PW for a change of scenery and less boats. Or north… Lots of great ports on the big lake!
Leadcore if you have those setups and spoons will do well for you. Dipsy and riggers obviously are good if you want to invest….
You can get by with baitcasting or even spinning setups, though if you don’t have the traditional salmon gear… Troll spoons or j-plugs with varying size beadchain sinkers to get them down a little. Bright colors on boards near the surface for steelhead during the daylight. Talk to other anglers to find the right depth of water to start and setup a N-S troll. EARLY is almost always best for kings – we usually are on the water by 3am. Pre-sunrise bite can be insanely hot…. Sunset can be also.
Good luck!
