This afternoon was I believe the funnest afternoon fishing I have had all season long!
I brought my two youngins out again and we decided to move the house, searching for that solid bite of nice fish.
I know they’re there, I just need to find them.
big lake, needle in the haystack, except for one thing, I have lakemaster on my side!
I headed north to an area I have never seen anyone ice fish before, looking for the correct depth, adjacent to a solid break, with something…an inside turn, a deeper hole, something to catch my interest and as I was focusing on a distand hook, I notice as I’m driving along pulling the house, this hole. not much of a hole, but at least two feet deeper than the water around it. I confirmed what the gps was telling me and set her down.
in twenty minutes we had holes bored, slushed, heat on and lines going down.
we had marks right away that looked to be crappie to me, but they wouldn’t bite.
had I landed us on a bunk spot? was there a reason I never seen anybody fish on this spot before?
at 4:45 I learned that all the hotspots are not common knowledge. scroungie pulled up a nice 10 incher!
ten minutes later, we had three lines laying on the floor and not one fish! what a hoot, “hey andrew grab that one, hey kate there goes another, aw crap, I forgot to open the handle on this reel”!
we didn’t even have time to rebait and the forth line went down and this time we got it. a solid 11 inche crappie!
we averaged a bite every five minutes and caught about half of the ones that bit.
we eneded up with 12 nice fish.
they bit on minnows today, with any kind of hook we had down.
real aggressive with a lot of them zipping up towards the bait before the bobber stop hit the bobber.
we will be bouncing around, searching for more spots. as long as they are cooperative, I am going to fill my notebook with spots to fish in the future.
I will have two or three houses out so if you are looking to come up even for just the day, give me a shout.
catch crappies all day, clean them and bring them to gosh dam place for their fish fry
