the bite for perch has been better this year than last year in my opinion.
I fish out of Highbanks Resort so I cover the north shore, and midlake humps area, from the big island area north to zumers and ravens point.

I do not know alot about the sunset view area of the lake, except that they did very well out therelast year. this year, it doesn’t sound as good. my father in law fishes perch quite a bit and hasn’t had much good to say about the fishing over there lately.

I am not biased. I don’t give to much about the perch fishing, but I do watch what is going on. I have seen more big perch caught this year so far than all of last year.

I can tell you that they are coming from all depths, with 20 feet of watwr being the most consistantly productive.

minnows, whole hooked through the dorsal fin with a split shot 3-6 inches up from the hook under a slip bobber, set up 1-2 feet off the bottom has been the most productive set up.

the guys that sit still and fish will likely experience a solid bite of aggressive fish in the 10 – 12 inch range. that bite will likely be in the early a.m. or in the evening when you would expect to catch walleyes, as the sun is setting.

the guys who are willing to move around from hole to hole will likely find fish on and off all day long. picking up a couple here and a couple there, maybe sorting through some smaller fish to end up with a limmit of nice cutters.

Thanks for the report. I was thinking about making a perch trip there this year. Very valuable info for me.
