the house woody dan and jeff are in, had a few hog eyes come up the past couple days, with the biggest being 28.5 inches and right at 9 pounds!
our area is seeing some major big fish action.
this is why I wanted so bad to get up to the highbanks area.
there have been close to a dozen fish over 20 inches in the past 36 hours.
scroungie has three himself with a 27 being his biggest ever.

I have pictures, but i left the camera with the boys while they spend the night in the house tonight. I’m sure they’re gonna need it.
I’ll down load pics on sunday.

the northerns are going gangbusters and even a few whitefish are showing up too.

the weather is beautiful but that is going to change as tuesday we will see a high of -14.

    that’s the way it is!

    Sunday January 11th 2009

the fishing has been a bit slow, but the northerns seem to have the feed bags on right now, and though the walleye bite has not been hot and heavy, the ones that have been coming up around us have been hot, AND heavy.
I will add some pictures tonight, but we have had fish come up in the 20″ plus range all night long.
the biggest one caught by a guest being a 28.5′ pig!
that one is going on the wall.
my son caught and released a 27″
another came in at 26.5, and one at 25″
the eelpout have been making a regular appearance as well.
I think it had something to do with the full moon and the clear sky because these fish went all night long.
my son and I didn’t even get setteled in the house after making the rounds until 10:30 p.m.
from the moment we dropped our baits down, we had marks and bites. this went on steady until 2:00a.m. then the next fish came at 7:00 a.m. that was scroungies 27″

now last night things were slower, and by the time I left the lake, around 9:00 p.m., there were only 2 walleyes caught between 4 houses.

our biggest problem seems to be finding eaters.

    it’ll come

there have been relatively few eaters coming up. a lot more of the slot fish and just over.
I am going to try an area where we did well last season for eaters. with a little luck we will have a fish fry this weekend?

Hi Russ, the slot on Winnie is like most other lakes with a protective slot, being that all fish from 17 – 26 inches in length must be returned to the water un-eaten.
