I now have two houses set up a couple miles out from Nodaks landing.

Roger and Mellisa have graciously allowed me to make a temporary refuge there until conditions improve up north, which shouldn’t be to long.

the REALLY good news is, the area I chose to set up in, though I have never fished that area in my life, proved to me that Winnie is quite simply a great walleye fishery.

today my guests scheduled to arrive at noon, called to say they had a slight delay and would be running a wee bit behind. it seems the blast of snow that the central part of the state recieved today was nasty and they ended up in the ditch.

after a friendly tug, they would be back on the road, only an hour behind, but in plenty of time to get settled in and enjoy the great evening bite! Scroungie and I set up in the big house about seventy yards away with two friends we met at the lodge who froze out of their portables and were looking for a place to rent.

I invited them to come out and fish with us and they did.

they caught some perch and then at dusk the walleyes started. not lots, but we probably had maybe fifteen walleye bites with 6 or 8 coming up.

the biggest was Scroungies fish we guessed at 22 inches.

    that kid can catch fish!

the ice road looks great with mostly 18 inches now and making more steady with temps in the 10’s below zerow tonight.

what are you waiting for? LET’S GO FISHING!
