Anyone headed up to Winnie for opener? What are your favorite spots to fish?

Boy its going to be an excellent year on Winnie. We have the 2000 class which is one of the strongest classes of walleyes in the books, Most of these fish will be 10-12 inchers but by August they should be in the 12-14 inch range. Well lets start talking opener….I can’t wait…

Boy if things don’t begin to melt here pretty soon, we may be drilling holes on May 10.

This year I will be up there the second weekend of the season with a big group of friends. We always go every year on the second weekend to ensure that we get a campsite. Most of the time we fish the Gap or the north shore on the rock/sand transitions. We have spent some time in Cutfoot and done well in there too. We never have any problem getting a nice limit of walleyes.

Two years ago we went to Round Lake just north of winni. We didn’t get as many walleyes as on winni, but every walleye was a plump 17 to 19 inches. Has anyone else every fished this lake?

I can’t wait for the open water season to get underway.
