Jim W,
Well the bite can be good at this time of the year pending on the ice conditions and snow conditions. Meaning can you get to the main bars and humps where the fish are during the frozen water months. Most of your jumbo perch are fairly predictable, they tend to group up on top of the bars, especially when there feeding, most of your larger perch come from the 18-25′ of water. Now for the walleyes, the best advice I can give you is be patience, but being in the right place at the right time will help you out. Walleye’s on Winnie seem to feed mainly at daybreak and at sunset, with some caught that first hour or so after dark. I have had some of my best fishing at daybreak. The eye’s tend to hold close to the bars and humps. Your best bet for the eyes are on the deep structure, close to where the perch are, but they tend to move up early and late in the day. The northerns, best bet is fishing the flats, one great spot is the east shore from muskie bay to high banks resort, fish from 8-15′, you should run into some dandies there.
