    Well Anglers,

The time is here to get to Winnie. The fall bite has slowly started over the past few days and by this weekend it should be in full swing. The walleyes are working there way to the shorelines, mainly the North SHore from the big tree to the Rock Pile. We are finding fish from 6-14″. Northland Fireball jigs, Chartreuse and Lime are working great, tipped with a medium chub. There are still a number of fish on the Mid lake structure. If your not getting bit on the shoreline, move to the middle, there is alot of baitfish out in the middle yet. Don’t be afraid to bring some crawlers with this weekend, the walleyes seem to still want them once in a while.

    Well Anglers,

The bite is on, look for the walleyes in the 6-10′ range across the entire North shore of Winnie, the fish are schooling up and the bite is getting heavy. Northland Fireball jigs, Chartruese or two tone will do whats needed to get the job done. Look for the fishing to be unreal from here on out. We have a great weekend ahead of us, and the walleyes should be jumping in the boat. Cutfoot is producing some unreal bags of crappies as well.

Well if your coming up and need a pointer or have a question, please feel free to give me a call. Bring a lot of minnows with this weekend, you don’t need to run out.

    Sean,

Just curious as to how long the fall bite lasts until the ice takes over up there. We usually see it here on the miss.river in either late November or most likely sometime in December. I suppose your prime time is now up there. Have a great time, wish I could come up to Winni when its prime!

    Hougie,

Hey the bite will last until ice up, which on a normal year is mid November, but one thing that always holds true, is the first ice of the year. We have some excellent ice fishing thru december for walleyes on Winnie. So from now til the first of the year, the walleyes will be feeding like mad. The fall bite normally begins in late August but due to the warm temperatures the bite is a month behind. The walleye have went crazy the last few days, and it will be a great bite from here on out.

    Yep,

The bite is starting to go crazy all over the lake now. Over the Last few days, the area on the lake called the dishes have went nuts. The waleyes are eating the paint off your jig here. The Northland Fireball Jigs, just about any bright color in 1/8 oz. tipped with a Chub will do the trick. The fish are holding in 7-12 feet of water. Suprisingly enough we haven’t seen many slot fish this fall yet, but you can’t keep them anyways. The water temperture is holding in the upper 50’s. This may be my last open water report, but as soon as the lake freezes over, I will be reporting ice conditions and the latest perch, walleye and crappie bite on Winnie.
