I’m guessing that either no one is up there, or the fishing has been so good that no one wants to talk about it…. Just thought I’d mix it up a little and see what’s new. Thanks and good luck!

A coworker was in the area last weekend. He ran into Sean Colter who said they had a 60 fish day. This is 3rd party info, so take it for what it’s worth.

We were up the weekend of the fourth. Found a pile of eyes off the side of a bar, but they were a bit tough sunday. Monday morning we fished from 6:30am-9:00am and they were much more agressive. We had ten nice 15-16″ fish and put back a half dozen smaller 12-13″fish. I would have liked too have had all day out there. The fish are snapping, but you may have too snoop around for them. I spent about 45 minutes just graphing some areas before i found them absolutely stacked. Cant wait too get back up, only 3 weeks from saturday, this time for a whole week.

Winnie continues to shine again this week. Most of the best action is coming from the mid-lakes humps. Jumping from hump to hump or bar to bar will keep the bite more consistent if it slows. Finding a hump that is holding good numbers is taking sometime most days.

The leeches behind a Lindy rig with a 7-10 foot snell is making for the best action, but the crawler bite is working from time to time or should I say hump to hump. The water depth is ranging from 24-32 foot pending on the piece of strucute and where the fish are holding on that structure.

We are at the middle to tail end of the mayfly hatch, so the bite will continue to build and look for a shorleine bite as the walleyes look for the young of the year.

We have seen more slot fish at this point this year then in any year that I have logged. So if your looking for some larger fish to go with those eaters, Winnie is producing both.

Sean is the mayfly hatch cooling off yet? We come up July 30th for the annual trip and we’ve always got into a good crankbait bite working some 10-12′ flats. Im hoping as you said when the mayflys are done some of those eyes will start too filter back into areas like this.

    James,

It should be done in the next week or so. The crankin bite should be in full swing by the time you plan on coming up.

    Good Luck.
