    Sean?

In the last post, between the two of us we were talking about roughly 10 muskies over 50 inches, that were caught this year? I know a couple guys that would give their left….arm to even have a follow that large.

Do you guide for them too?

Assuming you do, and I went out with you for a half day…what kind of numbers should I expect to see. (Not the BIG ones, just Muskies in general)

Do you know of any IDA members that fish for them up there?

    I know…questions questions….

    Yeah Dan,
One of these days I’m going to focus on those little toothy snakes…The 57 lbs mount at Bobbers Bar/resort (Williams Narrows) kinda peaked my interest. Since we go up every year, I thought I would convert one of my light cat rods to musky and give er a shot.

    You fish Winni at all?

I fish it in the winter for perch, but haven’t been out there for Muskies at all. In talking with Ron Hunter from Judds over the years, and two other guys that excel on the walleyes out there, the numbers aren’t good enough to justify leaving Cass or Leech. I know it is an amazing fishery, but as far as Muskies go I just don’t hear enough good things. There were a couple of Skis in the tourney that came from Winni, so apparently there are some fish to be had.

One of the few times I’m not TRYING to be a smart Dan but, maybe your talking to the wrong folks?

But then again…I’ve never targeted muskies…ever. Just going by the comments that were made on my trip and the 57 lbser hanging on the wall.

I know a couple guys that live by me that would shoot my dogs if I mentioned their muskie honey hole….Can’t have that….

    Brian,
I guess you could call this a very well kept secret of Winnie. There are a few guys that I guide with that chase them with fairly good success each year. I do not chase the Muskies at this point. But I would think if one guy could catch 5- 50 inchers in a season, the numbers must be OK. It may not have the true numbers like Leech and Cass, but I think it’s worth it since the sure pressure is not like Leech and Cass.
