Grant let me know folks were asking about ice out here.. I will try to make it a point to stop in here more often.. But, if I am tardy a bit, do keep a look on my website too.

Here is a new video report about ice and fishing conditions along with some product info.

I’m waiting for Jim to say it’s LAKER TIME! I’ve never fished Superior for lakers and I have it on my list for this winter. Any prognostications for us regarding the ice needed to get out to the lakers? How are we progressing as compared to past seasons?

Some of the water around the islands has skimmed over, From Houghton Point north of Washburn a few guys have been walking out around the Souix and Onion Rivers on one 1 and two poke ice yet. But Monday if the wind stays down I should be off the ferry landing in Bayfield for a walk out and fishing for a few Splake on Monday.

Well guys.. I will try not to be too tardy from now on..

Anyhow, for the big TROUTS off shore, we should be poking out to check on them here by next week, for sure. Just around the interior of Lake Trout grounds though. We have ice around Bayfield, up the north and west channels, and in water to about 200FOW at the max right now. But, its thin yet and has a little layer of snow to insulate it.. So, a few more cold nights and we should be golden.

Be sure to know you will see a report after the first day of “bobbing” for a few Lakers..

For now, back at putting some big numbers of near shore trouts on top of the ice. Browns – splake – coho – steelhead and hopefully a big brookie too!!

    Stay tuned..

James, shoot me an e-mail and we can chat about a date to hook-up for lakers.. [email protected]
