Hey guys hoping some one from the Duluth, superior area or the port wing area might help me out!

I will be up in the port wing area this weekend and am looking for a place to fish superior on Sunday!

is there some good ice in the port wing area?
or the Duluth area! north shore or south shore?

what would a guy be targeting! never fished lake superior and would love to give it a go on sunday!

any info would be great! I stopped in a bait shop last year in superior and he didnt seem to know any spots to fish!

You can PM me if you dont want to post!

    thanks

I’ve only heard sketchy reports on lake ice. I guess I’ wouldn’t bank on fishing the lake proper and play that day by day. Wind can change plans real quick.

Inside the harbor you can find ice, but where exactly the people are fishing I can’t say. You need to be careful with licensing back in there….MN/WS border concerns.

You may want to take a drive to London Road and stop at Marine General. Go up to the fishing dept [2nd level] and ask the guys up there about current conditions and where. These guys are top notch. If the fish are going anywhere they’ll know and can steer you to them.

I would skip playing with the many safety factors of the big lake and head rite to the St.Louis (sp?) river if in the area.

There is ice in duluth onlake superior but no one has been brave enough to go out on it yet. Idk how thick it is but it has been here for about a week now. I repeat, i dont know if it is safe! lol. And the st louis bite has slowed wayyyy down the past few days. Hopefully she will pick up soon tho.
A few loopers are being caught along the north shore casting crawlers or waxies off of shore. Any more questions let me know!

If i decide to not hit the river tomorrow evening, im goona go check the ice on the big lake. Its rough ice, not smooth by any means but it has been 0 degrees here the past 3 nights so it has to be getting thick.
Down in chequamegon bay there are getting into some brown lately. thats all i know about down there, I wont pretend i know more lol.

    THANX FOR THE INFO!

Ive never fished up that away on the big lake, so didn’t really know what to expect for ice and fishing!

I think we are going to hit the Ashland area and i will give a little report when I return

    Thanx IDO members!
