Starting to see some ice in the Duluth area….If these cold temps hold up and the winds stay calm we may have fishable ice in a few days. The Mcquade is now ice covered….no one has fished it tho as of yesterday. I dont know how thick the ice is just sayin its covered with ice.

Are there still Loopers/Steelhead around the French River under the ice? It was my favorite back in the 90’s during college.
    Thanks

Oh yeah…..not nearly as many as there were back then but there still around! There will probably be less and less every year now that there going to quit stocking loopers at the frence river hatchery from now on.

    Thank you!

An 8 pound brown is a nice fish congrats! The sheet of ice, if you want to call it that shifted toward wisconsin more but at least there is ice out there floating around now! Im anxious to get after the lakers and coho’s.

People are now fishing in the mcquade. Dont know the ice thickness but saw a few guys in there
