Hit the water with the GF at about 6:30.
I Decided that since we had been olny taking fish of the bottom the last 3 weeks we would skip running any boards or lead and just run our 2 riggers on the bottom in 100-105 FOW with out stackers.
The GF started out with her favorite green/blue flashback and I with pink lots a dots. We had 2 fish on her spoon by the time we passed Stoney PT and I had lost one on Pinky.
Did not mark as many fish as in the past few weeks between Knife and McQuade but did mark more than usual on the humps infront of McQuade.
Did change a few spoons out along the way but in the end it would be our beginning line up that would get us our limit.
After turning back by the weather bouy in front of Mcquade I decided to try a bit deeper. Picked up our last 2 fish in 120-125 on the humps. Reeled everything up by 1:30.
Went 7/9 loosing 2 nice ones behind the boat. All fish came off the bottom on green/blue flashback and pink lots a dots from 100-125 FOW.
We did end up keeping one 16″ that the lil’ doggie did a number on. I think he saw me cutting gills to bleed them out and tried to do the same. Little did he know that fish WAS going to go back to grow bigger… oh well, he should cook up nicely as a whole griller. All others were 20-26″. Upon cleaning them one of them was the most pink/orange meat I had ever seen, I had to do a double take to make sure it wasent a salmon.
—BTW after reading last weeks posts on cutting gills, I have to say that I had the most blood free cleaning board I have ever had. Thanks for the info guys. Cut em, live well for 10 min then on ice, Try it.—
