hey guys, I would really like to get into some of the trout action on superior. I have was in Grand Marias last year and was suprised that they use smaller boats out there than i thought as they didnt have to go too fat off shore and even thought it was windy the water was really flat. I know im not set up for too far off shore but i am running an 04′ Alumacrap with 60hp yammi tiller. i have riggers and have used them pulling cranks for eyes a lot. But i think trout is diff. If anyone if willing to answer a few questions i would appreciate it PM me if you would. Thanks Mark

What do you want to know? It might be nice to post the questions/answers so others can learn, too.

I say go for it! Just use common sence about what type of weather you go out in! if its to ruff then go to one of the smaller lakes in the area for that day!

as far as for trout water temps will dictate location and presentation! if you happen to have lower than 60 degree water temp you will be able to target them close to the surface! 55 is about perfect! after that they tend to follow the thermocline down! as the temps rise! We have always used dipsy divers with about 4 foot line between! Spoons work great for trolling as do j plugs! If ya go try and check with some locals at the docks to see if they will point you in the right direction on baits to start off with! can save you a lot of time!

sure there are others here with good info as well!
I like the williams woblers that are half silver and half gold!
    Good luck!

Trout will rise to hit a bait….a long ways up. Drop the bombs to 50 feet and troll at about 1.6 mph. Use heavier cannonballs….10+ if you can find them.

Clip the lure about six feet back from the weight. I like gold/orange for trout, but there are a ton of regional favorites that will get recommended too.
