Left the landing at 6:10 Saturday morning and fished throught the 4:00 hour. Trying lots of places and depths, the fished just seemed to be tight lipped, biting soft and short. Sunday, we left at 7:00 a.m (time change) and fished until 2:00, the fish were a little more aggressive, but still not like the usual deep water bite. Lots of current both days, the 2 and 3 oz beetles were the tickets for us. I fished a 3 oz side by side with a crippled herring, and the beetle took all the hits. Sunday we set up in 240′. All fish were caught on stingers, lots of fish hitting on the drop. Ice is still excellent. Temp was -14, and 4, respectively Sat, and Sunday. Between Michigan and Madeline on Sunday the ice was really working, I’ve never heard it work so much. The water would hydraulic a little, but wasn’t to bad.
