OPEN WATER!

I was up the shore today. There is open water at Knife river. I am putting the boat in Saturday and gonna troll for some loopers and coho’s!

Took the boat out today. Had to put in at twio Harbors as the Knife river marina still has a HUGE snowbank blocking the ramp. I tried 8ft out to over 100′ I trolled sticks mostly but did try a few spoons and a couple cranks but no takers. It was great to be out inthe boat again. Lots of flow into the lake. I even spent extra time around the dark water/clear water edges thinking maybe some smart fish would be hiding in the dark water waiting to ambush a baitfish. Oh well. It was still nice to be on the water. Water temp was chilly. 33.8 was best I saw.

Thanks for the reports fihsahollic . Not too much info in this forum except from you. I live in the north metro and am anticipating my first trip out on the big pond some time this season. I’ll probably be counting on you for some great info when I make my trip.

I have no details, but talked to a number of people at Gander that did real well on lakers “up the shore” in recent days. When I get the boat back up here (Easter weekend) I hope to get out onto that Monster of a lake and learn a little more about it and will post results here!

Steve, we need to meet sometime. I’ll look you up next time Im in Gander. I was there last Thur looking for 1 lb sinkers/balls.
