Just a couple notes on the fall migratory run of trout and salmon. Here on the south shore most of the rivers have some browns, kings and cohos in them. The fish are down in the lower stretches in the deeper holes. Some fish are in the upper stretches after the rain we had in the past week but what we need is a good all day soaker. The big chinooks are roaming Pikes creek near Bayfield but so are the fishermen. The Brule has been the most consistent. I talked to the Brule DNR and he told me they expected one of the worst runs of browns in a long time. We had a fall flood the year these fish came from and the year class population is poor. Some steelheads are showing up in the lower stretches. They are catching some browns near the mouth of the Sioux river also. Got an email today stating the Root river is full of chinooks. Had rain there on Sat and a lot of fish came in. Weekends are mayhem with people but weekdays it is fishable. Good luck and be safe
