I know I’ve posted a few pics already, but I wanted to get a few more out there. I had the opportunity to fish with James, Pat and Ben last weekend and what a treat it was. Fishing in downtown Duluth was an awesome setting and thought Sunday’s show turned out great. I’ve been up to Duluth for the past 3 weekends, even skipping out on a trip to LOTW last weekend. Why would I pass up a trip to LOTW? Well, you can’t ice fish Superior every year, but you can ice fish LOTW every year.

It was an easy decision. The average Lake Trout for me this year has been over 6 lbs. What a treat! Including this 15-20 lber. A personal best! I also brought the wife along this past Saturday for some awesome laker action. Now she understands why I’ve been up there for the past 3 weekends.

    Zoinks!

I keep picturing you and James at the bus stop with Strikemaster and rod case in tow. Great fish there.

    That would’ve been 100% possible.

I thought those guys did a great job on the show. I was imagining they would try and make people think they were somewhere farther from the city and they did just the opposite.

I’ve received quite a few PM’s lately asking where, what and how. I can tell you that James nailed it righ on the head in his show. He gives you every detail you need to head up there.

The only thing I can add is where. James and crew fished right in downtown Duluth, as did I when they were there. I’ve been fishing the Brighton beach area lately. Deeper water, 120-140′. I’ve been seeing more fish there now. I am hoping to make it up for one final run this weekend. I’ll have my fingers crossed hoping the snow and wind doesn’t really screw up the ice.

It was great to meet you, biggill, as well as a couple other IDO’ers we bumped into out on the ice. Looks like you’ve been having a blast up there the last couple weekends based on your pics! If only we got ice like this up there every winter, eh?! I really had a great time with this particular bite and only wish I could have had more time to play with it. And thanks for the comments on the show. We always try to keep the storyline as true to reality as possible.

I’m off to chase big LOTW gators just as soon as I put this post up.

I grew up in Duluth and honestly I don’t think I ever recall seeing people just walking out from brighton beach like they are. Pretty cool to see the big lake freeze over like that.
