Ma and I left for the cabin in Two Harbors early last Friday and we returned this afternoon. I made seven trips to the lake to cast during our stay.
One nice 28″ lake trout decided that my gold/orange spinner looked tasty and after bring the fish to the net from 80 feet of water he went on the stringer. That was the long and short of the fishing for me.
We enjoyed the company of a few deer but birds were sure tough to coax into the feeders. We think we had one bear visit last night late. As for animals in the yard, they were pretty thin in numbers.
It was HOT. And HUMID. Dew points were in the 60’s and 70’s every day we were there. It rained most of one morning as it did a couple of the nights. The interesting weather thing was the lake fog. Every day, thick and lake covering, the fog was something to watch. On two days I watched ore boats leave the harbor and simply disappear in the blanket over the water. Their fog horns allowed me to follow them out into open water.
Guys in boats were picking up some salmon but then the fog really put a damper on boat numbers.
It was a fun few days and the trout still seem to enjoy playing with people. Guess what’s for dinner one night later this week.
