I think it is safe to say that the smelt run has started here in Duluth and Superior alike. I have not seen or heard of any huge numbers beign taken, but a few gallons seems to be doable. With the nice weather expected this weekend, it could really pick up.
Anyone else been out, or anyone coming up to give it a go?
Keep us posted. Never done it, but would like to try. Six hour drive for me, so I need to know they are thick.
At least someone has them. There was a big die off on pokegama last year and haven’t heard of anyone getting them there. Made the eyes hungry though
Heading to Ashland Sunday. I heard it was good Wednesday night and decent again last night but not until after midnight.
Last Saturday we got 25 gallons and then the weather went to shiz. Finally got out last night and got 6 gallons in about 2.5 hours with 2 guys pulling. Headed out tonight for the last time I think. The females were in full swing with eggs all over the seign.
Grant you need some smelt?
