pretty much just a fish fry–but they are frying the smelt for ya instead–tasty is right!!

Sounds like I’ve been missing out. Any news on the lake temp. and all… I hear smelting season is almost here. (I’ve been saying that since Jan… haha!)

Anyone wanting to get rid of a christainsen net? I have me a seine net, that’s 4″X25″… however, I haven’t been very skilled at it. In the past the net tangles up in the middle as we are close to the shore… any ideas how I can fix this? Should I try more sinkers on the bottom…??? Thanks!

Is anything happening on the South Shore? Reports from Middle River to Corny said every thing from “no fish” to known liars saying “you should have been here a couple of days ago”. Maybe I shouldn’t get info from local watering holes.

So far am hearing really slow yet… I am actually watching snow flakes fall right now in Minocqua. Best I heard from this weekend was 20 fish to none… and I had a friend up there trolling for cohos and trout… So cold this a.m. that the turkeys wouldn’t even gobble on the roost.

No smelt so far for me here in the Keweenaw. Been watching and listening, with a few trips down to the river since April 1st…haven’t heard anything from my network of spies either. Had a big snow storm Sun/Mon…melted now and raining hard for 12+ hours…hoping that it will help trigger something, but the air temps are mid 30’s…not sure on water temps. Looking for more info/intel.

They’re running in Duluth and Superior. Go get’m!
