Was on Mazaska with a few friends on saturday 2/28. not real crowded, but quite afew guys out. got to the south end in about 25 feet by about noon or so. , fish were very tough to catch, and came through on the bottom up to 15 feet off the bottom, and they were quite negative. a good depth finder was extremely necessary. The water clarity or lack of it am sure made fishing even more difficult. water was very cloudy, some of the holes on the south end looked like they had algae floating in them. you could put your bait right on their nose, and they’d look at it, some would bite, many would not. during day minnows (small) or wax worms were good, but after dark. minnows seemed better. also think a glow jig was necessary with your minnow or wax worm to help the fish find you bait easier, esp after it got dark. moved up the north end over 28 feet around 3 pm. same thing, very negative fish. my best fish was a white crappies that measured 11 1/2inches. quite a few fish were over 9 inches to 10 3/4. also many 8″s. ice was good, but after last weeks melting and rain had alot of standing water mixed with the snow on top. 4 wheel was necessary, or very recommended. some guys at the ramp turned around and did not try it with two wheel drive trucks. Jack..
