Ice is Gone…Fishin’ is slow

Fished open water today…felt good not dragging an auger around! Fished channels and warmer water bays and some of the Cannon River. Caught incidental pike, walleyes, and 1 small perch. Saw one small crappie caught near me. Lot’s of bait skipping the surface in most areas…makes fishing tougher, but is also why the game fish migrate to these areas. Weather will not be helping matters this weekend if the forecast holds true. It would be nice to get some of the excessive Red River water into the So. MN lakes to bring them up and provide better gamefish spawning habitat. Until next week I’ll be stuck to fishing in the living room….the fish in the aquarium need to be shown who’s boss and who’s bait! TGIF

We tried for crappies on Friday from shore and didnt get much. Water is still too cold and they havent made there way to the shallow water. Gonna try it in the boat this next weekend. It wont be long!!
