Has anybody been out fishing? I suppose with the warmer temps the ice that may have started hasn’t gotten anywhere. Are you still open water fishing or stuck in between ice up but not thick enough yet? Thanks, Bill

Yeah, but in the same place you’ve been Bill….about an hour to the North East. I’ll be on the river tommorrow. How was the 3-way bite since I tied some up before I saw your plastic post. I was jigging plastics that last Fri….got there late w/ the 4 year old and it was chilly…37degrees or so and it was tough we didn’t light ’em up when everyone was saying “yeah it was good a couple hours ago” Those fatal words! Then I felt the boy had payed his dues with the low temp for a few hours and I wasn’t going to subject him to standing in the boat in the rain….getting sick and having the other 1/2 remind me that sensible people don’t keep fishing no matter what the conditions are. Probably see you there thurs.?? TGIF

We just started trolling 3-ways when we ran across Dustin and then we switched to casting ringworms. I’m out of vacation time so have to work. The following Thursday I’m cooking Turkey as the kids and grandkids are coming over but am hoping the weather will be decent that weekend as I do have that 4 day stretch off. Thanks, Bill

I jigged a lengthy drift….not a hook up. I pulled a 3-way with a Cadwell jr. floater special and had 4 in probably 20 yards. Ran out of space and started jigging back shallower and the fish got bigger. Jigged plastics mostly big fish was 24″, but was caught on a jig-a-whopper super glow chartreuse…only had one of ’em and now I have none. It was buried so far down I couldn’t even see it. Time to grab the gun again now until ice. TGIF

For some reason I was unable to start on new post on ice conditions…..I figure Bill would beat me to it anyway. So far I have not seen fishable ice, but I promised not to have a rod or gun in my hand today (holiday). Seems a little windy so I am thinking it may not happen this weekend.

Nov. 28 there’s an ice fishing tackle sale at Thorne Brothers in Fridley….lot’s of stuff and new stuff on the market. I have a number of their custom made ice rods….they are phenomenal. Sale also on Sat. The next weekend is the ICE SHOW in St. Paul….this is an excellent stop. You will find a lot of stuff you need and some sales. If I had to tell someone new to ice fishing where to start the Ice Show would be the start. TGIF
