Around the Faribault/Mankato area, what are the best fall fishing lakes for Eyes?

I prefer Cannon or Tetonka from personal experience and have heard good things about Madison. All the fishing I’ve done in the fall that would rate as good – very good took place at night. I’d start out by pulling stickbaits on a long line or by casting to a specific area with grubs and jigs. Cannon was particularly streaky as one night you’d catch 15 good sized ‘eyes and the next you’d catch 1.

I would have to agree with James. Cannon is known for being a good fall lake. Pulling cranks and casting cranks is usually the best but a bottom bouncer with a spinner will catch you some eyes too. There are some rocky areas and an outlet area that can be good too. IF you make it up there be sure and let us know how you do. A couple friends were over at Madison as they heard the bite was good but they didn’t do very good. Try trolling a black and gray shadrap along the narrows area points if you go to Madison. Bottom bouncers and spinners again have caught fish. On Tetonka check out the outlet area casting crankbaits at night. Can be some super fishing at times. Thanks, Bill

    Thanks guys.
I’ve tried Madison before but that lake has lost some of it’s spunk in the fall (from my experience anyway). I think we’ll give Cannon a try. Isn’t that the one that carries a few nice perch here and there?
