A few guys from my club went to Mazaska on Saturday..
First I’ll mention we went out of the SW ramp, had about 10″ of ice there, and at the end of the day, there were quite a few vehicles using the lakes edges, within 50 yards, to park their cars/trucks.
the SE ramp is close to what had open water last week. from the south shore flat that goes north to deeper water, you could easily see where the new (thin ice) is, as it was all shiny, and had no snow on it, after the last couple of inches of snow you will not be able to see the area of new (still read THIN) ice, so just walk out of the SW ramp.
fishing was slow, and not much to report, had quite a bit a action on perch, and smaller Crappies, and only a few BG’s. the guy I went with did move a few time, and probably should have moved more often to find, and stay on fish. a few other members were closer to shore, and had a couple of Northerns of not much size, and one 15″ Largemouth Bass.
Was hoping for better fishing, had lots of fish looking at offerings, but were tight lipped, tried diff jigs, and bait and colors, but didn’t make much of a difference.
that about it for now.
I am planning on heading down to Mazaska the end of April or early May, I know there are some good Crappies in there.
more soon.
