Had the chance to get out to a couple small lakes near Faribault yesterday. Had a few things to get done so we didn’t get out to the ice til around 9 am. Decent ice out there but there was some open water over a deep hole to watch out for. I would imaging that it is closed up today, so it is probably really thin, watch your step. We managed to catch crappies all day long, not fast and ferious, but spread out over the whole six hours. Jigs (dark colored) were the key tipped with a waxie. Lots of fish marked and it just took alot of time before they would take the bait. We fished depths ranging from 14 feet to 29 feet. The crappies were not small, but I would not consider them keepers either. All of ours were returned to fight another day.
Ice ranging from 6″ to 10″ in most places. No pictures sorry, the wife would kill me taking the digital out in these temps.
Good Luck
