Anybody check the ice here yet? Usually a later developing lake due to the current.

I drove by on 56 yesterday, it look like the west side is frozen & the river under the bridge on 56 was frozen. But there are know fish in this lake.
December 5, 2006 at 6:25 pm #507275That lake is devoid of fish, except for carp. Don’t waste your time!
December 5, 2006 at 6:37 pm #507285talked to a few kids who are in highschool who don’t fish, last night. They were just walking near the shorline on the west landing and the dirt landing on the north side. They walked out a little bit but didn’t take any measurements. Just be careful if you do go out there, usually takes longer to freeze because of the current.
I’m getting our houses ready and will be home from college next week, so hopefully can get some time on the ice then.
December 6, 2006 at 1:06 am #507511So who all has a house out on byllesby. I have two of them and usually right next to the other. One we bring out first because its light, then the big one comes out later. The small one is painted orange with black trim and the other is just a grey 8×8 with a sleeping pod on it(pretty plain).
December 6, 2006 at 5:20 pm #507776I checked out the goodhue landing on the southside and say there was 4-5 inches of ice. I think I will hit it this weekend, walking out.
December 9, 2006 at 3:09 am #508999had a friend check on the lake for me, he walked around for a while and found 7 to 8 inches on the west end. He went off the county landing on HWY 88, that was 3-4 inches around that area, some in more spots and there were a couple spots that were less. He had the front end of the wheeler break through the ice on a spot on the northend when it was only a foot of water, so he didn’t want to venture too much more. He didn’t check the east end at all. And he said he wasn’t positive of the ice coverage on the southend, i guess there is a heave and he couldn’t determine if open water on the southside or not. There were a few portables out and a couple more people were coming in on wheelers to check things out.
So, ice is still thin in many areas, so be CAREFUL!
Hopefully this warmer weather doesn’t affect the ice too much.
Let’s here it if u get out there either to check ice or put some lines through a hole!
December 9, 2006 at 2:39 pm #509078I drove by yesterday, their were two house out on the lake both on the north side one was a portable by the point off dakota county park the other was on the north west side. I’ve got to free up some time to get out there this weekend.
December 11, 2006 at 12:10 pm #509576didn’t make it out to fish but drove by and saw a few people walking out. Going to try again this week for the last couple hours of the day. Anybody heard reports from the ppeople that were out?
December 11, 2006 at 12:34 pm #509581I made it out there on Sunday, I ended up with 5 eyes. I fished the channel mainly. Had about 6″ of ice sometimes there was 8″.
December 11, 2006 at 4:58 pm #509682any size? How big are those they stocked 2 falls ago. Are they up to 15″ yet? Jigging mostly get them!?
December 18, 2006 at 12:28 pm #512381Fished it this weekend, great weather and some fish. Ice was still a solid 6″ where I was. Caught about a dozen stripers and 1 walleye saturday night and one walleye sunday night but it was 24″. Great to feel the tug of a quality fish thru the ice again! Pretty neat when the ice is so clear that you can see the fish swimming below coming up to the hole.
January 17, 2007 at 4:23 am #523856Anybody make it out there the last few weeks?
I was hoping to get out there, but with the warm temps earlier i wasn’t going to venture out there and was out of town once we got the cold temps.
Talked to a couple guys that brought the house out last week, but fishing was slow. couple small eyes and some crappies.
