On 3/27/03 Cannon Lake was nearly 95% open water. The lake appears to be a good 2 1/2 feet low and water continues to pour over the King Mill dam in Faribault. There was a sizeable chunk of ice near the public access, but a boat could be weaved around it. Not many dead fish floating so it appears that oxygen remained decent throughout the winter. Other lakes are also open or will be soon. Shields was mostly open. There should be some panfish action shortly as soon as this gasp of winter passes.
