Catching crappies?

A real good friend put me on to one of his honey holes. We have been catching nice sunnies for over 2 weeks now out of the very same holes. A couple times he has caught a real nice crappie or 2 (13″ plus), but only one or 2. I’d love to get into more of those slabs, but we are unable to find them.
We are fishing in 12′ to 13′ flat with a weed bed aprox 2′ high. About 50 yds or so from a 20′ plus hole. We have tried the edges, the center, and the structure all around the hole, including the area between the hole and where we have caught the others. I have tried it early am and well into the nite with no luck. Any idea where we can find these fish?

Try fishing higher in the water column. Sometimes the crappies will be only 1-2 feet below the ice….so you also need to sit still. With warm weather melting some snow it seems to draw the crappies up…..whether its the melted snow water running from the top of ice down holes/cracks or zooplankton being loosened up the crappies just seem to do it in some lakes. Maybe on yours! Were you fishing on the lake by Sleepy Eye? TGIF

We have tried a variaty of depths and locations so far with no luck. We will just have to keep on looking! thanks!

It may be possible that the lake may not have a hearty population of crappies in it? Are you guy`s catching any small craps or just the few bigguns? Somthing to think about and try to keep a few pig`s in the lake? Anyhow the bigger fish may be relating to the deep basin part of the lake yet. With the warmer day`s we are having the soft bottom area`s should be swarming with small invertabrates and other critters for the fish to snack on. That`s what you need to find. Good luck and don`t be afraid to drill. 75 or so hole`s and 50 cents of gas there is not enough time. Flip
