The weather may be getting colder but the fishing has been hot on Cannon Lake of the Cannon River Chain. The fall bite is in gear and you don’t want to miss out.

Trolling crankbaits, either #5 or #7 shad raps will catch you alot of 15 to 18 inch fish. But if you are after the bigger eyes try trolling #9 and #11 rapala minnow baits in 5 to 8 feet of water. Favorite colors seem to be black/silver and perch color.

The best days to fish are on cloudy cold days during the daytime. If the skies are blue and sunny then its best to fish at night. Fish have been caught from shore casting minnow style crankbaits along the rocks by the bridge and jigs and minnows along with slip bobbers have been taking those night eyes says Brett at Fairbault Bait and Tackle.

The panfish bite is slow right now but once in awhile you will catch one in shallow water while targeting walleyes. And don’t forget to stop in and see Brett for all your crankbait and live bait items you will need to catch all those fish with. Fall is here and its time to go fishing. Bill
