We have been looking at campsites around the Waterville area. Took a look at the Lake sakatah area . There is a boat landing right in Waterville by the water tower. How deep is that river–I understand that you can go from Sakatah to Tetonka thru that river. Also coming out of Sakatah bay and into the main lake what is upper Sakatah then?? and is that navigatable as well??? any in fo appreciated. Also, any obstacles to watch out for?????

Upper Sakatah is the main lake. Lower Sakatah is the smaller lake under the bridge on the northeast corner by the island. I have launched in the channel in waterville and navigated the channel and both sakatah and tetonka in the past. I have not been out there lately though and can’t comment on water level. Tetonka is the better lake to fish with more structure. There is also a landing on the south side of tetonka. You can look up the lake maps and info on minnesota dnr website. Also some good info on fishingminnesota.

You can get through the river no problem usually. Right now, it might be slow going as the water level is extremely low. Right now the landing at the river is closed. They are working on the water tower and some other construction so you’d have to use the landing on Tetonka and motor through if you wanted to fish Sakatah.

Both lakes are good walleye fishing lakes. Sakatah is better in the early spring and Tetonka I like better in the fall. Right now the lake is very green though. I was just over there on Sunday morning and couldn’t get anything worth while to go. Too green. This year there has been a pretty good crankbait bite on Tetonka throughout the summer though.

When you planning on going? I’ve had some great days for both walleyes and crappies on Tetonka in the fall.
