How much ice

    I want to fish Cedar or French this coming weekend. Is the ice safe to walk on and fish from a portable?

    Quicksilver,

    The ice on French varies from about 6-12 inches depending on where you are. There’s a spring on the NW bar that has open water–avoid it!!! I haven’t been on Cedar although it should be safe to walk on. There is 3-4 inches of snow on the ice–it is heavy/slushy stuff you’ll feel like you’ve been chasing roosters all day after the walk. Fishing is fair on French. Crappies 7-9 inches. Not much else to report. Good luck.
