Took a friend (Steve) to Carl’s (south of Prior, east of 13) lake this afternoon and evening. got very lucky with the rain and conditions. had rain all around us, but did not rain where we were. The Ultra-light rods got a work-out tonight.

moved to a second spot, and ended up staying there for the next couple of hours. caught at least 50-60, mixed bag of Bluegills and Crappies. No big ones, but a perfect time to get out ahead of this next cold front. the nicer BG’s were 7 1/4 to almost 8 inches, and most of the Crappies were 8 1/2 to 9 inches. what we were using was a flu-flu with a power wiggler under a slip bobber about 18″, in 2 feet of water. no meat, just the plastic wigglers, water temp was 61. Had lots of doubles, and constant action. It was a very nice evening.

Enclosed is Steve with a couple of the BG’s he took home.

Thanks for the report and pic Jack. Very lucky indeed not to get rained on. Must of been a reason for that. This time of year, and really anytime of year, crappies and bluegills sure feel good on light and ultralight fishing rods. Its like fighting a big fish every time with the fight the gils put on. Thanks for sharing. Keep those reports and pics comin.
    Thanks, Bill

That is a good lake to fish, especially in the winter. Did you get bit off by any pike? There are a few of them in there!

    Gary,
The only non-panfish we got was one small L.Mouth. No Pike and NO bite-offs, I also thought that would have happened at least once.
Was going to head up to Fish lake, if Carl’s didn’t pan out, but never got up there.
    Jack..
