I have not fished it for a couple of years but about 3 years ago I was putting my boat in with my kids and 2 highschool kids were pulling out with a 50″ and a 52″ muskie caught on the same day . A guy I work with caught a 54″ a couple of years back. I know they are in there but that’s about it.

It is an awesome muskie lake!!!

They stocked the lake just about 25 years ago.

There are some big brusiers in there, but unfortunately, many folks that fish there knife their fish. Very few “quality” fish get returned to the lake.

There is a high population of fish in there still.

The lake is full of milfoil. However it also host a large population of sunfish and crappies. I’ve known more crappie fisherman to hook muskies than actual muskie fisherman……

So please, if you fish there, practice catch/release and try to convince fellow muskie fisherman to do the same.

For whatever reason, fisherman in that area like to keep those big tunas……Makes a guy sad!

What I don’t understand with people who keep “trophy” or “Monster” fish is:

You’ve worked so hard to finally connect with a pig in your own back yard, without going to “Canada”. You busted your butt for hours and hours on end, cast after cast, freezing your butt off, sweating like a hog, hour after hour and hour, then BANG!!!!! You finally hook the fish of a lifetime.

So what does a guy do? He kills it, never having again, the sweet opportunity of battling the same fish…….Or, letting his buddy fight the same fish another day…….

Why kill a majestic creature that you tried so hard to beat, when you can compete with the same animal again???

When I think of all the frustrations (frustrations I wouldn’t give up for the world…..) over the years on French, Minnetonka, Mille Lacs, LOTW……Where I screwed up the chances of boating mid-50″ fish……….Then to know they are gone, never to compete with again??????? What a sad day on the water……
