Ice Conditions BAD, Open Water on some lakes

As much fun as it is pulling fish thru a 8 inch hole, I’d much rather fish from a boat. Cannon Lake has been open and the rest probably will be next week. I’ve already seen people shore fishing the creeks, but nothing to show yet. It’s going to be an interesting spring with low water. Access/landings might pose a shallow water problem.

Hopefully the DNR sees this and repairs the accesses when the docks go in.

I’m in New Prague and all the lakes around us are now open. I know that down by Waterville they are too because i’m going to be trap netting with the DNR.

Are you netting for lake surveys? If so, I’d be interested to see/hear what the results are. I tried e-mailing the DNR for last years lake surveys in SW MN, but haven’t got an answer yet.
