planning on coming up this weekend, just wondering if it is worth the trip or did this last storm make the ice unsafe ?

The storm and snow has had zero negative effects on the ice safeness. Actually, the cold following the storm tonight and the next few days will add to the ice safety. Now, all the snow melt that was puddled on top of the ice, is added ice thickness. The ice access points should be healed up now for at least the next few days. Drifting on the ice due to the heavy wind along with the snow will be an issue but a lot of the ice is still blown free of snow and avoiding the big drifts should be possilbe. The ice will be safe to travel on with most forms of travel for a at least a couple weeks. Old ice heaves should be avoided! Getting on the ice, however, could become a challenge by the end of next week with warmer weather on the way.

    Update:

We closed the access at the Red Door today to vehicles(trucks and cars). We will be allowing ATV-Snowmoblies only at this time.

We received 10-12 inches of new snow today!

If you are planning a trip up to the lake, just bring the sled or atv along and you will be good to go!!
