I need some help decided what to do. I have a 10×16 fish house out of the Red Door that is about 20 years old. The house is starting to show its age and I’m concerned about one of the runner “cross supports”. They are made out of angle iron, whom ever built it welded two pieces together to make one long support. This happens to be on the heaviest end of the house. The angle iron is lag bolted to the bottom plate of the house every 16 inches, and then it is lagged into the runners. I took a couple of pictures…attached.
I’m assuming this support is really used to keep the runners from coming in when being pulled. I don’t know if it the house is going to rip apart when they pull it or make a turn with the house? Should I be concerned? What would you do?
I don’t have easy access to portable welder to make a repair at the Resort and I think it would be a fairly big project to remove the piece of steel to repair it and put it back on. I believe I broke the weld last year when jacking the house up.
Do you think it will be ok? Should I scab it with another piece of flat stock?
Fred are you out there, any chance I could get your opinion?
