    Happy Holidays everyone!

I just wanted to put a quick report of what we have been finding this past week.

The fishing has been really good. Alot of keeper walleyes iced along with some big girls showing up each day. Mud flats, gravel and deep rock piles have all produced this past week. Gold Macho Minnows have been the best during low light periods…but downsizing to a Forage minnow with a crappie head has been the ticket to turn fish mid-day. Drilling holes on top, top edge and bottom edge of the structure is important as the fish will slide up and down the structure as the day goes. The fish are still in the aggressive chase phase…keeping your bait 2-3 feet off bottom has been the most productive in getting the fish to commit.

Ice conditions are changing everyday. The lake has alot of rough areas, with alot of heaves and cracks. Off road with ATV/Snowmobile is not a problem (approach cracks/heaves with caution). Some resorts are allowing vehicle traffic…make sure to check with resorts before heading out. We have found 11-14″ in most places, but have found 9″ in some areas as well. I would not recommend off road vehicle travel at this time.

It should be a great couple weeks of fishing over the holidays. Now is the time to come up to the lake!

Until next time….we hope to see you on the ice.
