THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DULUTH HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT CST SATURDAY NIGHT. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
* TIMING AND LOCATION: SNOW WILL SPREAD ACROSS SOUTHERN AITKIN COUNTY AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. THE SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND MAY BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES… THEN DISSIPATE TO SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS SATURDAY EVENING.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 6 TO 12 INCHES OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED.
* WINDS AND VISIBILITY: NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WHICH COULD REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO LESS THAN A MILE AT TIMES.
* MAIN IMPACT: THE ACCUMULATING… BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WILL MAKE TRAVEL HAZARDOUS. BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILLS OF 20 TO 40 BELOW ZERO ARE EXPECTED SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING.
