Hit Mille Lacs for the opener, and had good results. Caught fish corking the rocks, rigging the sand, and trolling the shallow sand after dark. The fish were all pretty fat, and not very aggressive. We kept after them and managed 25 fish for the week-end. It was great to see the range of sizes. We had as many unders as overs that went back. Pictured is our biggest of the week-end(24″) and a nice 2 man limit of eaters.

I’ve been fishing Milac’s since I was a kid. This was the 1st opener with excellent weather in years, WOW! I never saw so many boats out there! Congrats on a great trip!
Looks like you hit it right. It was tougher for us. Most people we talked with caught a few, but it was definitely not a “hot bite”.
Good job. I spent Sat, Sun and Mon on the pond with similiar results. There were six of us and we had good fish frys on Sat and Sun with limits each day. Monday am was the best for quality keepers in the 17 inch range. The weather was a little to nice if that is possible. Fish slowed for us when the wind died, but if you were willing to grind it out they could be had.
