any body get’n the cooler packed up already? Was wondering about the burn ban, anything still in place on the North side (Aitken county) sure would hate to lose out on some campfire time. Going to give them new fangled lighted bobbers a shot. Just saw on the Messengers public calendar that there is a ‘Syttende Mai Lutefisk-Meatball Dinner’ at Zion Lutheran Church, McGrath. Get your reservations in! Boy, can you imagine the “pull my finger” t-shirts being sold there!

Chomps, I believe you could always have a 3 foot enclosed campfire…..I don’t think Aitken had a total ban on…. I know for sure it was OK 2 weeks ago and we have had a little rain since. Cooler isn’t quite packed yet, but plans are being made….I am heading up the thursday night before, to get primed for opener

State DNR burn ban map still showed restriction today–with individual variances for Aitkin but not Mille Lacs counties.
This info from state website might help:

I believe chomps is asking about a campfire on opener, not burning outright. Campfires (defined as 3 foot and smaller and contained, rocks, steel ring) have not been banned, other than in state forests and in the BWCA.

Right. As an example, our fish house park people can and have been using their fire pits legally the past few weeks. Expect most burning restrictions to go away by next week as rain and greening up foilage is putting the risk of fire much less.

G is the highway 23 bridge still out? Ben adjusting my driving patterns the past couple years because the bridge was closed. We still have some root balls to burn, just have to wait and see what the weather has in store for us.
