I am staying at Izatys the end of the month. Although I am not new to Mille Lacs, I know nothing about the south end. I would appreciate any info and pointers I can get. Thanks!!!

Do you have a GPS? The buoys should still be in the water for marking major reefs. The area your talking about can be very dangerous if your not careful. The fishing can be very good for smallies this time of year in front of Izaty’s. Good luck

Holy prop wreckers batman i would have to side with Calvin on this matter. But I also have to say that my fishing partner has been up there the last 3 weekends in a row and has done very well on walleyes and smallies on the south end right out in front of cove bay by the island.

Yes, I have a GPS and the Lakemaster chip.

Are you planning on trolling at night at all for walleyes? Do you plan on fishing for perch at all during the day?

I guess I will do what it takes to catch walleyes – planning on night trolling and bobber fishing.

The Boser Bros try to have the bouys gone the 1st of Oct so they can go elk hunting out west so I would plan on no bouys being out. The chip should keep you out of trouble. After it is shallower than 8′ use common sense. I take my SS prop off anytime soon and go w/ aluminum and actually have a plastic prop on my kicker.
I carry waders in my boat from now on late in the year. There is a long story that had a lot of wind involved and I was in a spot I was not familiar with. Not having to get wet to free the boat has its plusses.
I NOW have survival type outware for me and my guests. Seeing the choppers going around last year really got my attention.
Be safe, enjoy, & good luck.
