A friend told me Mille Lacs is the warmest he has seen it since mid June yesterday.

No wonder the fish are all screwed up, but they did manage 3 – 5lb+ Smallies on the East side.

I will try to get the numbers. He drives up 3-4 times a week to chase Smallie’s, but since he is always traveling he is hard to get a hold of on the phone.

Yesterday it was near calm on Mille Lacs. At the Banana Flat the surface temp. was 72 deg.

Got ahold of my friend that Fishes Smallies on Mille Lacs told me this evening that last Saturday

    Sept 26, surface was 64F
    Yesterday
    Oct 5, surface was 53f

-11 degrees in 8-days, now can we say turnover?

I would agree with that. We read mostly 54 to 55 over the weekend.

There’s no dought about that, going with what Mike W said, we never had water temps over 55 last weekend on the north end.

Actually Mille Lacs doesn’t set up a solid thermocline due to the wind and lack of depth compared to area. So in turn there is no turn-over period. Not to be nit picky just an FYI. What is true is the Fall Bite has begun read my trolling report from 10-2 thru 10-6.

Water temps last night where 52-53. I figured they would be dropping a little faster than that. I dont think the bite is going real good yet but last night was better than last weekend for my boat. There where some fat fish that had moved in on the shoreline.

I think another week or two.

We need the weeds to lay down before fishing really picks up.

My thoughts exactly. The weeds were very green last weekend and had not started to thin out at all.
