Getting closer. Heading to Hunters Friday. Planning on fishing the shallow rocks and maybe Sloppy Joes or 8-Mile. Going to try rigging and using spinners. Any ideas from you Mille Lacs expert? Havn’t fish the south end this year at all, after all the help you had for me and my son tww weeks ago I thought I would throw this out.Not looking for any spots but maybe some good general info to get us pointed in the right direction.Although if any one wants to cough up a gps coordinate I would be happy to try and download it on my new Garmin unit. Looking forward tosetting the hook on some eyes this weekend. If anyone else is staying at Hunters give me a shout and we can hook up for a cigar and cocktail

Was up yesterday and turned a dozen fish for 3 guys in 7 hours. Bobbers on the deep gravel was the best bet for numbers and a chance for slot fish. Trolling the basin was slow but turned two nice fish while a front was going through.

Look at my report from last month – same deal. Mark the fish sit over them and catch. Move after a short time without any action or hunker down if you have had success and wait for another school to move through.

Enjoy and good luck to you and your son!

Quite honestly? Drive from structure point to structure point and look for fish. Bug hatches are winding down. If you can see fish, you will catch fish. The flats and gravel are still holding fish I am told. Don’t overlook shallow rock if you have wind.
    Good luck!

I’ll be putting around out there tomorrow. Weather looks crappy, I don’t mind the rain but it’s calling for thunderstorms as well.

The fish have been all over the mud, gravel and rocks. The last couple trips finding fish has been very easy but getting them to bite has been another thing. We are still catching plenty of fish it’s just not as easy as marking em and catching em like it’s been most of the year. I’ve been getting eater sized fish shallow and deep, but almost all of my big fish have come off of the mud. My last trip the biggest was just over 28″. I’ve been talking with a number of people across the lake and everyone seems to be using something different; Lindys, spinners, cranks, bobbers…. Bobbers have been treating me good so that’s what I’ve been using. Some are fishing real shallow and some are fishing way off the mud. In other words the fish seem to be everywhere and spread out, but if you keep at it the end of the day results are pretty good. Good Luck!

The weekend was a blast. We didnt put anything in the boat Saturday morning trying rigs around the flats. After lunch and a nap we were back at it around 7pm. Shallow rocks and bobbers put a mixed bag of smallies, perch and eyes in the boat. We were getting bit often which kept it interesting. But then the rain and weind came so it was time to head back. All in all it was a fun weekend. Will be back as soon as the schedule allows to try corking the shallow rocks again. By the way for 13.00 per night the shacks at Nittis are great.Only problem is lack of showers or bathrrom facilties. Looking forward to the next trip.

We made it out on Sunday, Marked a lot of fish, lindy rigged had a really tough time getting bit, hooked 3 walleye, 2 were 16 inches or so, the other was lost boat side round about 18 inches, marked a lot of fish but bites were few and far between for us, moved around a bunch. 2 walleye in 32 fow, on in 24. Wasn’t well set-up to crank didn’t bobber fish until later in the day.

All said it was freaking beautiful on the water

We took the Launch out of Hunters saturday night and caught a few…. a group of 10 and boated a dozen eyes… 9 for the box and 3 dinks. We were bobbering in 16 fow. A few perch and rock bass were caught also. It sure was nice having the roof when that downpour came up at about 9:00pm They had a sweetcorn feed during the afternoon…. it was good !!!

I heard the corn feed was good. I was napping and missed out.We talked to some of the guys from the night lauch on Saturday. They did ok but not great, and yes it would have been nice to have a roof during that downpour. It wasn’t bad at first but then WHAM it came hard and fast. The fish were going good so it was hard to want to leave but we were soaked and decided to go and get dry, have a few cocktails and some fresh fish.
