My buddy from work just bought a new lake home in Wigwam bay. He just closed the deal Nov 28th. He gets home from work this past Tues night and gets a call from the Mille lacs County Sheriff. A group of kids from the tribe broke into 20 homes in the bay. My buddy’s home suffered sever water damage when the kids slashed his water bed. They also shot out all his windows with a pellet gun and stole his T.V and DVD player. The sheriff told him not much can be done other than to contact his insurance agent. What a joke!!!!!
The break-ins were said to have happened sometime last weekend. My buddy spent x-mas day cleaning up. They also left his front door wide up which will give him a nice gas bill to boot.

Unfortunately, this stuff has been going on for years on the west side. I can remember being a kid in the 70’s and having to lock up EVERYTHING that wasn’t nailed down. We had to do that every night, even if a whole group was at the cabin with multiple cars or tents. It was on wigwam bay just down the road from North Star and West Shore Resorts.

If anything was left out, you could almost be assured it would be gone in the morning. We had a screen house set apart from the Cabin and I remember getting up one night (2-3 AM) to go to the bathroom and as I stepped out the door, there was a fella standing right in front of me. That is a pretty jolting experience for a 10 year old.

The teenage hoodlums doing that stuff back then in the 70’s would now have teenagers of their own. Is there any wonder this stuff is still going on?

Anyone who thinks the racial issues and hatred (from all sides) is over, just needs to spend some time near a reservation. It is a dirty cycle… the hatred just gets passed down from generation to generation. There is no respect and no end in site. It is a sad situation.

Speaking of Hoodlums….. These two should have been taken to jail, booked, sent to court and held responsible for thier CRIMES! Read this story from the current Mille Lacs Messenger. These 2 vandals know they can get away with the crime. I have a good feeling that if no one was home when that rock went thruogh the window, that house would have been robbed and trashed!

Something tells me these two have not learned their lesson!

When told the vandals were two boys in police custody, the woman told Boltjes she didn’t want to press charges or even make them pay for the damage.

This woman is a two-time victim. The first time her home was vandalized. The second time she finds herself the “victim” of her own HORRIBLE judgement to NOT press charges.

    Dumb-dumb-dumb!
