SE Weekend Report… welcome surpise/great weather

We stayed at McQuoid’s and fished the SE corner all weekend. The weather couldn’t have been nicer. They ‘eye bite was a little tough during the day, but remains hot at dusk on the rocks

The surprise came on Saturday while pulling Lindy’s and spinners in Isle Bay (sorry guys, I’m not blurring any shorelines ). My 10 yr daughter Julia tied into this beast on light Walleye gear (6lb test). We were spitting distance from Fr. Hennepin State Park working a deep breakline when she took a crawler harness for a run.

Julia says she was hoping for a 30″ ‘eye, but this works too! This young lady is not stranger to Mille Lacs though. At age 7, she managed a 27″ pig, so she’s Mille Lacs spoiled to say the least!

The fish strectched the tape to just over 42″ and the nearby launch drifted in while we were fighting the big girl to take some pics. These are just camer phone pics (rookie mistake to leave the digital camera in the truck ). I think we’ll work on Julia’s guide rates this week

Anyway, the bite should just get better as the water warms up (we had 59-63F this weekend)! GAME ON!!!

Super job! Your daughter is one heck of a fishergirl.

I know grown men that won’t hold their own fish! She’s got them beat for sure.

Now my fishing partner wants to learn how to work the tiller so “That way you can have more time to fish, Dad!”

Now, if she can read the electronics, I’m set!

The netman was a little ill prepared (walleye net only), but he did manage to get both hands around it and hand land it

I might have to look at a big Beckman if we keep frequenting the big pond

Just got an email from one of the launch guests that was floating nearby and got some action shots!

James, if you need a sidekick for season 4 of IDO TV , I think Julia would be game
