(Note: I’m focusing on Mille Lacs only here)

Howdy all – I appreciate any help you can lend as some of these are driving me crazy!

    1) Navionics vs. Lakemaster – I have an ’07 LM and an ’05 (or so) Navionics. LM seems to be able to zoom farther in and have less errors … although there are areas that aren’t accurate with either of the chips I have. Opinions? I’m leaning towards getting the new LM.

    2) Depth coloration: I see the new ’09 LM chip is supposed to have shaded area from 0-15 feet. Anybody verify if this is any good or shows up? Mine now is very tough to read and differentiate areas of different depths.

    3) Is there software to customize depth contour colors out there? I know some people get pretty fancy with their stuff and wondered what my options were? I’m picky that way.

    Thanks for the help!

For LM chips, go to screen, change contrast to high and switch to night viewing mode and it makes reading the contours in shallower areas easier. A tip from Doc Samson

Interesting link – thanks for the heads up. Still a little bit less than I’m looking for, however. With my old Navionics chip I was able to get true differentiation in depth ranges … sounds like the new LM chips are doing that.

    Thanks very much though!

That guy’s website is AWESOME for help in navigating my Lowrance equipment! Just learning that I could download a demo simulation of my sonar/GPS units and play with them on my computer is HUGE! Much nicer than having to sit in my boat and get frustrated when it doesn’t do what i want it to do.
